Francis Blackwell Forbes, the son of John Murray Forbes and a member the Forbes family, was a clergyman. He was the greatgrandson of Rev. John Forbes and grandson of James Grant Forbes. They had three sons, William Howell Forbes (1837-1896), Henry De Courcy Forbes (1849-1920), as well as Paul Revere Forbes (1836-1936). The family owned and ran a number of businesses both in New York and around the world.
